Cinderella?

Both girls are in my cousin's wedding this fall. We already have their flower girl dresses and Sarah begs to wear her "princess" dress.... I told her she could not which brought on a full blown tantrum... So we settled for a fancy dress instead.... Then both girls wanted to help Jim clean while I was at the grocery store... Here are the photos as a result of that cleaning session... Disclaimer- Katie dressed herself that day- its one of her favorite outfits that she puts together :)

Here they are cleaning Sarah's room....

Move Over Picasso....

The girls do love their art.... As I said in the last post, they painted these wooden hooks for their room... Below are some pictures of them painting and showing off their art work. In the bottom pics- Sarah's masterpieces are on the left- Katies are on the right.....

Adjusting to my new role

So its been about a month now that I was laid off and I have to say I am adjusting.... And actually enjoying it. The girls seem to be enjoying it as well. Katie cries every week when it comes time for pre-school although she always comes home and tells me how much she enjoyed seeing her friends...

We have been having fun making our own adventures here at home. Yesterday started out very wet and rainy. When I went for the paper I noticed the worms were all over the driveway from the rain so I got the girls dressesd and we went out to look at the worms. Sarah kept saying hi and bye snakes! I guess we have to work on that with her!

We painted these wooden hooks for their rooms and they were so excited and proud to hang them up. They show them to everyone who comes over.

Its funny cause I have never considered myself a creative person however staying at home with the girls is bringing out my mom creativity. To make lunch more exciting the other day, I made bologna sandwhiches and used my easter cookie cutters to make cut outs of their sandwhiches! They LOVED it and devoured the whole sandwhich... Katie even asked for it again the next day. I highly recommend it to anyone with small kids.

We are getting excited because next week we go on vacation with Jim sister and her family and the Bear is coming too. I think the adults are all looking forward to some time away and the kids are all looking forward to the indoor water park we are going too....

Take care and Happy Easter to all those who celebrate it.....

Little Leprechauns

I woke up this past week and found these cute little leprechauns in the house- I think I will keep them since they are so cute!

I am thrilled that Katie is starting to let me dress her Girly Girl as she says.... She actually had me put her hair up several days this week and Sarah let me braid her hair today.... Last weekend Pap and Mimi came to visit and the girls were thrilled. We had a good time with them and I was able to get a couple of pics of them with the girls...

The last one my lighting was off but its such a great picture I had to share. I hope that Pap does not mind - lol. In other news, I think Sarah might be watching too much Dora. She told me Mommy Vamanos the other day and when she counts she says -one, dos, three.... Sarah remains obsessed with Princesses and tells me she is Cinderelly and when you ask her who her prince is- she will tell you MOMMY! Ha!
Auntie Michele got Katie a dance cam for her birthday and both kids love to dance with it and Sarah will say Shake your booty and stick her little butt out and shake it... So funny to watch. We have been enjoying the nicer weather and have been playing outside and having a great time. Both kids are enjoying riding the trikes and we are teaching them how to ride Katie's scooter that she got for her birthday... Mommy has been walking around the neighborhood with our next door neighbor and will start taking the girls with her this week...
We are getting over some sickness here- Katie is fighting off a bug that has left her quite congested and running a fever. Sarah is getting over a bad cold. So we are definitely happy that spring seems to be on its way.
Hope all is good in your neck of the woods

When God closes a door, a window is opened....

I have always be lived in that statement and now more then ever. Yesterday morning I was asked to call the director of where I work where I was then informed that they were making deep cuts and that I was one of those effected and that yesterday was my last day. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I had a feeling that more cuts were coming and I was worried I would be one of them but until it happens - you really can't imagine it....

So with the way the economy is and the job market here in this part of the country we have decided that I should stay at home with the girls. They are going to continue with daycare this week and next and then Sarah will stay at home full time with Katie attending pre-school there 2 days a week.

I am still in shock over what happened and my mind continually races about the future but at the same time I am kinda excited to start this next journey of my life....

So hopefully I will be updating our blog more often and sharing the girls and our adventures....

Take Care

Socks,socks and more socks!

:)Since we went skating the other week, both girls are obsessed with skating! To the point that they get up every morning and dig socks out of their dressers and then pretend to skate on the hard wood floors... This is driving mommy nuts because they go through several pairs of socks a day.... I feel like Laundry is a never ending chore as is....

Needless to say, I think the Easter Bunny might be bringing skates for the girls this year....

We had a nice valentines here- both girls had parties at school and came home hopped up on sugar! Oh Joy! They got lots of treats and valentines from their class mates.... We did not do much on the day itself. Just ordered Thai food and got happy meals for the girls and Bear :)

After being on Bactrum antibiotic for 20 days per Katies doctor to try and clear up the lingering nose crud- she is sick again... Ugh! We are anxiously awaiting spring here...

Hope where ever you are that you are having a good day.

Skating!

SO Jim got into touch with some of his old friends from cabletime recently.. They are very involved in a rollerblade hockey league here. Since Katie is very into anything sports, Jim took her to practice the other nite and she loved it.... So Jim's friend told us about open skate on Sunday afternoons so we went today....

Katie was a little scared at first and did not really want to skate as evidenced by this pic:

Sarah on the other hand-was a natural, she took to it like water and did not want to stop for anything....

So I talked to Katie for a bit and explained if she wanted to play hockey she had to learn to skate and this was truly one of those times I was thanking God we have Noggin because we had recently watched an epsiode of Little Bill where he was learning to skate and was upset that he could not do it right away.... After that she told me she wanted to try again like Little Bill had... She went back out and after two minutes of us holding her hand - she was off- skating down the rink and back... Here is a picture of both of them skating at the end:

We had a great time and it was a great way for us to all be active and exercise as a family.. We will definitely be back soon if not next weekend...
